I called looking for a new Internist yesterday. I ask the girl who answered if there are any Internists who are taking new patients. She said (no lie) "what is an internist?" I said "oh, did I not call Ellsworth Internal Medicine?" "yes, you did but I don't know what an internist is" so I explained the difference of internist to GP to pcp, etc. Then I asked again were there any taking new pts and if its a Nurse Practitioner or PA that's fine......... she said "I don't know because I don't know who is what". Honestly, at that point I figured she is a temp or just brand spankin' new and not properly trained......... "no, I've been here quite awhile but no one ever asked me that, please hold on". No one ever came back to the phone. Today I will get a list on google and bring her one. Still looking for new Dr but not there.
