i HAVE BEEN TO MANY DERMATOLOGISTS DUE TO SUN DAMAGE. DR. SYKES ASKED ABOUT MY NEEDS AND WHEN I TOLD HIM, HE TOOK OUT A CAMERA, TOOK 7-9 PHOTOS AND LEFT THE ROOM.
I ASKED TO TALK TO HIM AND HE WAS "BUSY". I HAD PREVIOUSLY ASKED FOR A RECOMMENDATION ON SUN BLOCK AND A HEALING OINTMENT FOR EFUDEX TREATMENT.
I have visited Dr. Sykes for several years as frequently a as every five months. My first visit, after moving here from MA, I was concerned about how complete my exam was. My MA doctor has a very good reputation and used large magnifying glasses and spent a lot of time looking me over everywhere. I learned that Dr. Sykes has modern equipment and ways plus a trained eye and was giving me a good examination. I soon learned to have confidence in him and found him to be professional, pleasant and friendly. He quickly diagnoses my skin problems and prescribed the appropriate care. His staff is polite, friendly and helpful. I thank all for making my visits as pleasant as possible.
I ASKED ABOUT A TREATMENT FOR MY EXISTING PROBLEMS FOR AT LEAST MY FOREHEAD AS THAT WAS THE REASON FOR MY VISIT. MAYO CLINIC HAS RECOMMENDED THAT I VISIT A DERMATOLOGIST EVERY 3-4 MONTHS DUE TO MY CONDITION AND HAVE TREATMENT FOR MY NEW DEVELOPMENTS.
I PLAN TO CONTEST THE BILL TO MEDICARE AS RECOMMENDED BY ANOTHER PHYSICIAN SINCE IT IS SUSPECTED THAT THE MANY PHOTOS WERE TAKEN FOR BILLING PURPOSES AS THEY WERE NEVER EXPLAINED NOR DISCUSSED NOR DID HE SPEND ANY TIME WITH ME OTHER THAN THE QUICK PHOTOS. ALSO, I WASN'T INTERESTED IN HIS BANGOR REFERRAL.
SHE SAID HE DIDN'T MENTION THAT BUT SHE WOULD ASK HIM. SHE RETURNED WITH TWO VERBAL RECOMMENDATIONS ONE OF WHICH SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO SPELL AND A COUPON FOR THE OTHER. SHE FINALLY GAVE ME PEN AND PAPER TO WRITE THESE DOWN, WENT AND GOT THE SPELLING AND I LEFT.
I ONLY SAW HIM FOR ABOUT 3-4 MINUTES DURING HIS PHOTO SESSION WHEN HE TOOK PHOTOS OF MY FACE, ARM AND BACK WITHOUT A SINGLE COMMENT.
My daughter and I went to Dr.Sykes for treatment for my daughters warts. He didn't really explain about warts or different treatments. He prescribed creams and sent us out the door with generic reading material. My daughter and I felt our time was wasted. I am left feeling discouraged and on my own to figure out over the counter treatments.

I WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND HIS ASSISTANT RETURNED WITH A FADED RESUME OF A DOCTOR IN BANGOR WHO USES BLUE LIGHT TREATMENTS FOR SUN DAMAGE AND SUGGESTED I SEE HIM.
